Spring Time “Keep on Growing” Give Away !

Keep on Growing Give Away

I am so happy that SPRING TIME is finally here ! because I’ll be launching my “Keep on Growing”series here on my blog which is about my triumphs and failures along with the “What was I thinking?” laughs in my 2nd year of organic container gardening on my patio.

When I started gardening last year I must say it was overwhelming to say the least but luckily I was determined to follow through and I wanted to share my experience with those who were staring the same journey. So I searched for the information I needed to help me through people I met at farmers markets – festivals and of course Pinterest. It was a great experience meeting so many people who had such a passion for growing.

Family Adventure – San Francisco Zoo

This past weekend we were able to take a trip up to the city to the San Francisco Zoo and although it wasn’t the best weather it turned out to be a pretty nice way to spend the day..

Since you never really know how the weather is going to go in SF ? I highly suggest to put some layers on so that way if it does get warmer you can always de layer if need be. Once we got inside the Zoo it started to warm up and we didn’t have to wear our jackets anymore till the end of our adventure.

We got their about 1:30pm and the parking lot was full so we parked on the street next to the Zoo which had available parking at no cost *which was nice*.

The park is located right next to the beach and you can even walk across the street and have some snacks or lunch their before you head into the park. Unfortunately the weather was pretty windy and I’m not one for cold wind so we decided to side track that idea and go straight into the Zoo.

We first headed to see the Hippo’s habitat and luckily they were up  taking baths.

Family Adventure – Villa Montalvo in Saratoga Ca

We were on our way to the Blossom Festival in Saratoga on Saturday and for some reason it was no where to be found ? So we ended up taking the scenic route and we came across The Villa Montalvo luckily. I remembered seeing it online when I was researching gardens in the Bay Area to take the kids to. So we decided to take a detour and take some greenery in at this beautiful place in the Saratoga hills.

Spring Time ” Keep on Growing” Events

I wanted to share some really great spring time events that are taking place here in the Bay Area in April. The lovely Spring Time – specifically in San Jose.

I’ve started a “Keep on Growing” series here on my blog so I can keep a journal of my gardening experiences especially what has worked for me and what has not. Also some “What was I thinking?” aftermaths *lol* with some laughter along the way. I believe sharing is caring and learning how to grow my own food is definitely a passion of mine that I started to sow in the Spring of 2012.

This is my 2nd year container gardening on my patio and I am now getting ready to plan out what I want to grow this year and gather as much information as possible so that  I can achieve those goals this year. Here are some events that are taking place in April that will give you that boost of Energy and Enspiration that will get you growing in no time at all.

Family Adventure – The Junior Museum & Zoo in Palo Alto

We were looking for a kid friendly place last weekend to take our toddler to that would be a fun out door/indoor learning adventure plus it was such a beautiful sunny day outside that we wanted to take advantage. I was looking online and I found this place that combined both elements The Junior Museum and Zoo in Palo Alto. It shines as a community gem and strives to engage a child’s curiosity in science and nature. Admission is Free but donations are more than welcomed to help the Museum continue to provide this adventure for the community.

We went on a Sunny Sunday around 2:30pm and it was pretty packed so if you want to go with a smaller crowd I would suggest going during the week in the morning time.

They also have a Large playground in the back of the Museum that you can take the kids to for snack or lunch time and play.

Daily Enspiration = Passionate Pueblos

I was just thinking this morning what Enspires Me ? Not just today but all of my days. My Culture and my People. I come from a very small village in the South West of New Mexico – Cochiti Pueblo and Santo Domingo Pueblo from my Mother’s side. I grew up there till I was 5 years old and then my Family moved to Germany because my Father was in the Air Force and we relocated when I started Kindergarden. I got to see the world at a young age. Which I am completely Thankful for because it showed me all possibilities of this world and all the cultures that have some very valuable knowledge to share with us all. I was the only child of my Family that got to experience that way of life back at home in my village and it has been with me ever since and now I will be passing on our ways of life to my son and daughter as they continue to grow.

I remember specifically right before we left to move to Germany that I got to dance for our Feast day in Cochiti. It was something that I always remembered and yearned for ever since and it wasn’t till I was 28 that I got to dance again. It saved my life and my spirit ….

As I look back now there was a time in my life where I was immensely angry that I was not able to go back home as much as I wanted to when I was younger because we lived so far away but now as I’ve grown to be a Mother I know now that I have that choice to make sure this will not be repeated through my family. Now my kids will always have that with them as they continue to grow. I feel blessed to be a part of this very small community of people who continue to survive and persevere in any situation. Plus I’m super excited to go back home this summer dance for our Feast day “It’s time to Rest and Renew my Spirit”.

If you would like to know more about the 19 Pueblos check out the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque New Mexico.

Hold on to what is good,
Even if it’s a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe,
Even if it’s a tree that stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do,
Even if it’s a long way from here.
Hold on to your life,
Even if it’s easier to let go.
Hold on to my hand,
Even if someday I’ll be gone away from you.
