I wanted to share some really great spring time events that are taking place here in the Bay Area in April. The lovely Spring Time – specifically in San Jose.
I’ve started a “Keep on Growing” series here on my blog so I can keep a journal of my gardening experiences especially what has worked for me and what has not. Also some “What was I thinking?” aftermaths *lol* with some laughter along the way. I believe sharing is caring and learning how to grow my own food is definitely a passion of mine that I started to sow in the Spring of 2012.
This is my 2nd year container gardening on my patio and I am now getting ready to plan out what I want to grow this year and gather as much information as possible so that I can achieve those goals this year. Here are some events that are taking place in April that will give you that boost of Energy and Enspiration that will get you growing in no time at all.
Not only do I get to Celebrate my Birthday today ! I was browsing around Vimeo the other day on our Roku and found these Amazing videos of Music created through Nature and wanted to share them with you. Nature has a way of Enspiring people in the most interesting ways. Check them out and enjoy !
We were looking for a kid friendly place last weekend to take our toddler to that would be a fun out door/indoor learning adventure plus it was such a beautiful sunny day outside that we wanted to take advantage. I was looking online and I found this place that combined both elements The Junior Museum and Zoo in Palo Alto. It shines as a community gem and strives to engage a child’s curiosity in science and nature. Admission is Free but donations are more than welcomed to help the Museum continue to provide this adventure for the community.
We went on a Sunny Sunday around 2:30pm and it was pretty packed so if you want to go with a smaller crowd I would suggest going during the week in the morning time.
They also have a Large playground in the back of the Museum that you can take the kids to for snack or lunch time and play.
I was just thinking this morning what Enspires Me ? Not just today but all of my days. My Culture and my People. I come from a very small village in the South West of New Mexico – Cochiti Pueblo and Santo Domingo Pueblo from my Mother’s side. I grew up there till I was 5 years old and then my Family moved to Germany because my Father was in the Air Force and we relocated when I started Kindergarden. I got to see the world at a young age. Which I am completely Thankful for because it showed me all possibilities of this world and all the cultures that have some very valuable knowledge to share with us all. I was the only child of my Family that got to experience that way of life back at home in my village and it has been with me ever since and now I will be passing on our ways of life to my son and daughter as they continue to grow.
I remember specifically right before we left to move to Germany that I got to dance for our Feast day in Cochiti. It was something that I always remembered and yearned for ever since and it wasn’t till I was 28 that I got to dance again. It saved my life and my spirit ….
As I look back now there was a time in my life where I was immensely angry that I was not able to go back home as much as I wanted to when I was younger because we lived so far away but now as I’ve grown to be a Mother I know now that I have that choice to make sure this will not be repeated through my family. Now my kids will always have that with them as they continue to grow. I feel blessed to be a part of this very small community of people who continue to survive and persevere in any situation. Plus I’m super excited to go back home this summer dance for our Feast day “It’s time to Rest and Renew my Spirit”.
Hold on to what is good,
Even if it’s a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe,
Even if it’s a tree that stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do,
Even if it’s a long way from here.
Hold on to your life,
Even if it’s easier to let go.
Hold on to my hand,
Even if someday I’ll be gone away from you.

If you have llittle one’s that like to create using all kinds of mediums this is the place for you to have a great family adventure with hands on activities for everyone to enjoy. I found this museum throughsfkids.org a great resourceful site for kid friendly places and activities in San Francisco. So when I showed our 8 year old and our 1 1/2 year old where we were going on our next family adventure they were thrilled ! the Children’s Creativity Museum integrates creative technology with hands on innovation, design, art and music activities to get your kids thinking. We are a pretty Tech friendly family and we use our devices as creative learning resources with the kids so we were all pretty excited to head out to the Children’s Creativity Museum on Sunday and see what the museum had in store for us. Trust me you won’t be disappointed one bit ! Guaranteed.
My Daughter absolutely Loves Yo Gabba Gabba and she’s at that toddler age where she wants to interact with everything especially magnets. So I was checking out Gabbafriends.com and the Nick Jr. Yo Gabba printables section and I found these really great printables. I thought all together they would make a really fun Yo Gabba Gabba magnet play center for a toddler.
This year I made a Lego star wars Advent calendar this year for my Family that I found on one of my favorite sites Pinterest. It was made by Living Locurto She has a lot of great printables and crafts for the holidays.
My little family are Big Star Wars and Lego fans so the one we chose to make was perfect for our countdown. Thank You Living Locurto for your creativity *Big Hugs*.
I also got inspired by another creative Mom –Miracle Momma – when she made some golden tickets for her kids as a surprise to hop in the Mini Van and look at all the different creative Christmas lights. Unfortunately we don’t have a Minivan so I know my Son would be highly questionable about the ticket *LOL*. So after I read that story I found a great light show close by us that was in Los Gatos that could be a great advent holiday activity. After I make those first 4 tickets I thought “Why stop here?” So I collected some advent activities via Pinterest and put them on my Christmas board and also made my some of my own activities for our Calendar. Since I have an interactive 8 year old boy who lives and Loves Legos along with his Tablet I decided to make it interactive for him and let him see visual what we were going to do each day. I think it’s going to be more fun for him each day when he gets to open each tab. So let’s get started and get our “Creative Flow” going.
My son Dylan has been a great little helper in our patio garden ever since we first started it last spring. So when he suggested we should add a bird house to it I was was definitely on board with his project. My suggestion was to make it out of something we could recycle and to use a juice carton as the base and to try and make it look like a traditional wood bird house. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures on the step by step process but I’m going to explain it as best as possible.
